Sinkfield Defeats Buckner for Democratic Nomination for Secretary of State
In a mild upset long time Democrat Georganna Sinkfield beat fellow Democrat Gail Buckner to get the Democratic nod for Secretary of State. Sinkfield seemed to work from election night through the entire run-off. Buckner however, did not appear to do any heavy campaining during the run-off. We heard she even still had $200,000 left in her political coffers, guess she was saving it for the general election. Maybe she'll allow Sinkfield to use some of the funds in her primary campaign against Brian Kemp, who took over after Handel left in her failed bid for Governor.
Barnes and Deal square off for the Governor's Race
Barnes won without a run-off. Deal beat Handel in a highly contested run-off. If voter turnout is any indicator then Barnes has an uphill battle if he wants to return to the Governor's Mansion. over 700,000+ Republicans voted in the Republican primary to only 300,000+ Democrats. If the numbers are any indication it seems Republican voters are more motivated to elect their candidates than Democrats. We shall see if this holds true in the fall.
